Birthday Fun

October is birthday month for our family. We kicked it off with Olivia's on the 14th, mine happened on the 17th and Tyson turned 1 on the 18th. I will devote a special entry to Tyson's celebrations, but here is just a glimpse of what we did. Olivia showing off one of her presents. Boy are we experts at UNO now!
The B&B Harsevoort cousins came to celebrate and have some cake.
Too bad we sent them home with the flu:(

On my birthday we took a hike up to Mt. Albion falls. It is so beautiful there.
Aaron and Olivia love to explore and hike across the rocks.

Us with our new house guest, Danielle Dam. She is staying with us for six months and definitely is a pleasure to have.

Turkey Point

In the middle of July Barbara and I decided to take all the kids camping to Turkey Point for a few days. We did get a few looks, what with 2 moms and about 10 kids occupying one campsite! Although it was a busy few days we had a great time! Olivia being transformed into a mermaid. I think Bethany quite enjoyed her 'little sister' for a while.
Lindsay came along and was a great help!

Grandma H came to visit with Natalie.
Of course we had to have an arrow walk. Here we are trying to find the boys and Uncle Brian.

Reuben, his brothers and mom also made the trek up to visit us. slowly but surely we will convince Alicia that camping is the thing to do!

Campfire! 2

Olivia with her two counsellors, Flash and Click.
Eww- blue ice cream for dessert!

The theme of the week was "The Lord is my Shepherd" and the local 4h club came to visit. The kids were allowed to brush them, feed them and even take them for a little stroll. Definitely a highlight of the week.

Apparently they left some sheep behind...
The parachute game was also a hit. Who knew rolling under a large tent could be such fun!

We were blessed and privileged to be part of Campfire! again this year. It is amazing to continually see God's grace and his power, especially through the eyes of his children.
'God is good all the time!!!'

We're back!

So, we are back in the blogging world. Only this time it's not only John, it's our whole family! We plan on using this blog to archive our family activities as they happen. We will do our best to keep it updated, soooo.... happy reading!
Our summer began in an exciting way. We started out at Campfire! summer bible camp for Sprouts week! Kim and I were there as chaplains with Aaron(Lightning Racecar) and Tyson (Iron Mike), while Olivia enjoyed being a camper for the week.
Critter catching is always a hit at Campfire! and Olivia and Jasmine were really good at it!
Olivia on the prowl for some big slippery frogs.

Buddy Check! One of the safety rules while by the pond. Always stay with your buddy. "If your buddy is swimming, what are you doing.......?"

Me and Iron Mike enjoying the music before Chapel.

Kim and Aaron had the honour of raising the flag to start the first day of camp.
